CPR

Having training in CPR is important for parents and child care providers. Proper education in this skill can ensure that a parent or care giver is confident in their ability to provide lifesaving first response medical attention to a child in need. 411 Safety Shop & Training offers several certification and non-certification courses in CPR on-site at their shop in Windsor Heights, IA.
411 Safety Shop & Training offers four different courses in CPR. The first is their Adult CPR course, which covers the subjects of basic skills, CPR/AED, both with and without a barrier mask and adult choking. The second is their Pediatric CPR course which covers the subjects of basic CPR/AED skills on a child or infant, infant and child choking. The third is their BLS Healthcare Provider course which follows the American Heart Association's guidelines for the healthcare professional. The fourth course they offer is a non-certification class called Family & Friends CPR.
The Family and Friends CPR course teaches participants the basics of CPR through a practice-while-watching format. This course goes over subjects such as "hands only" adult CPR, the basic skills of CPR/AED, CPR/AED for both children and infants, and choking for infants, children, and adults. While this is a non-certification course, it is a great option for new parents, older siblings, and other care givers.
All of their courses are under the instruction of Karen "Kiki" Joslin, who has experience working as a Child Passenger Safety Technician, an EMT-I, a child care provider, an in-home child proofing expert, and as a partner with Safe Kids of Greater Des Moines. She also holds memberships with the Iowa Emergency Medical Services Association and with the International Association for Child Safety.
If you are a parent or child care provider, it is important that you are educated in these lifesaving skills. Contact 411 Safety Shop & Training to speak to our instructor regarding which of our courses would best suit your needs.
